It wouldn’t be a Christmas celebration without pulling a cracker but the waste they produce casts a not-so-festive shadow on the 150-year-old British tradition. To tackle this issue, we've launched our digital Christmas cracker for the second year running, filled with instant-win prizes that simply aren’t rubbish.

The mobile game gives you the chance to win a host of food and drink freebies, including bottles of prosecco and wine, pints of beer, cocktails, our signature hanging kebabs and warm cookie dough desserts, limited-edition bottles of Kraken rum and even a voucher for 25% off your food bill, amongst others, all to be redeemed in 2023. Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on a traditional cheesy joke either!

Every year, an average of 40 million Christmas crackers are discarded – lined up end-to-end this equates to 1,220 Mount Everests stacked on top of each other, and that’s not considering the plastic prizes inside. By eliminating the physical element and offering (much better) edible prizes, the award-winning venue addresses this issue with a modern, sustainable, hygienic and socially conscious alternative.

How it works:
All guests who book ahead between 22 November and 24 December will receive a digital Christmas cracker and, as with a traditional cracker, two players unite to compete and pull the cracker first to be crowned the winner.

Both players scan the e-cracker QR code using a mobile device, then one player starts the game and the other joins. Following the countdown, players tap the cracker screen, aiming to pull the cracker first to win the prize. Both players receive a joke plus the chance to capture a selfie with The Botanist’s props which can be shared straight to social accounts or downloaded on your device to remember the party antics.

In the true spirit of Christmas and our community heart, the e-cracker is also partnered with homelessness charity Shelter, to help raise awareness and money to support those in need.
