September is the NWTC month of giving! And we can’t quite believe the lengths our people have gone too to give back and raise both money and awareness for the charities that are the nearest and dearest to their hearts.
Over the course of the month, our family of around 1,500 employees have banded together to make a difference and raising money for over 25 different charities. They have jumped out of planes, climbed mountains in let’s just say not the most apt weather conditions, they have played football, dressed up, ran events and spread the love. Ultimately, we couldn’t be prouder of the amount of effort that went into last month and we want to let everyone who got involved how incredibly impressed and beyond proud we as a company are with you.
The event that “kicked” everything off was our NWTC World Cup! A battle for pride, for glory, for charity. With 20 teams playing for 18 charities, the spectacle ended with The Club House vs Alderley Edge… The Uniques vs The Botanists and dramatically ended on a penalty shoot off resulting in The Club House taking home not only the cup, but also all the money raised on that day would go to their chosen charity! To spice things up, the money raised was then matched by the company and The Club House decided to split the money between two chosen charities, Diabetes UK and Mind UK. Everyone who took part on this dramatic and glorious occasion contributed to an unforgettable day for some incredible causes.
Our charity month just kept moving from strength to strength. Following on from our National Charity Fundraiser we moved into our National Charity Challenges. This year we have had 22 people take on the Three Peaks Challenge and 10 people take on a skydive all for the charities that mean the most to them! These brave souls have supported, encouraged and worked together to achieve something great, both personally and for their chosen causes and to everyone who has helped sponsor all these phenomenal individuals… you rock!
Finally, our September Charity Spectacular concluded with our Believe with The Botanist, our annual campaign in partnership with Barnardo’s. The purpose of the campaign is to raise money for the Barnardo’s centres local to each site, meaning that both our teams and our guests can join in to raise money to help support the children and young adults within their communities. With each pound that was donated, we have ensured that local families in crisis are supported; children are free from exploitation and abuse; and young people have a solid grounding for the future.
So far in 2019, The New World Trading Company has raised over £60,000 and we want to thank everyone for their support to date. This money has gone to some incredible charities and we can’t wait to continue our support for the rest of the year.
